Sherab Chumso entered this school in 2002. She is from Derge, Kham. She comes from a very poor family. Her father went to work in a coal mine, and was severely injured in a mining accident, and later he died. After her father's death, she did not know where to stay and traveled around until she arrived in Serta. Then, on a visit to Larung Gar in Serta, Khentrul Kunzang Gyaltsen made a stop in town. While eating at a restaurant, this little girl came begging for food. Seeing her, he was filled with compassion, and asked her why she was begging. She told him her story, and after hearing it he gave her new clothes, and he took her to the school right away.
