Shekar Drolma is from Droshul Gongma, in Kham. At the age of three, the mother suffered from brain cancer and died. Then, her father was traveling for business and was killed by bandits. Her and her older sister became orphans and were taken care of by their grandfather, however they still had to beg for food and clothing. They later were able to come to this school.
