When Tsewang Norbu was young his father fell seriously ill. His family spent their savings on health care in an attempt to cure his illness. As a result of the health care expenses his family became extremely poor and could not afford to send him to a regular school. Tsewang Norbu was enrolled at Sengdruk Taktse School for these reasons.
