Kuzum Tenzin is from Gyume village, in Darlag County, Golok. He was born in an extremely poor family. One day when his father and mother took him out to beg for food and money, they met Choktrul Kunzang Gyaltsen. Kusum Tenzin's family was wearing ragged clothing and were very thin from starvation, seeing this Kunzang Gyaltsen brougth them to the school.
